T.J. Kistner leads RPA’s investment research and analysis, and he is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
T.J.’s responsibilities comprise oversight and management of RPA’s investment processes and programs, including investment design and menu analysis, fund manager due diligence, and portfolio management of the PortfolioPlus program – the firm’s proprietary managed account platform designed specifically for public sector employees. Additionally, T.J. provides an extensive background and expertise in macroeconomic theory and analysis and drives RPA’s top-down views in conjunction with the Investment Committee.
T.J. has over 15 years of experience in investment program evaluation and design, portfolio management, and manager due diligence. Prior to joining RPA, he served as the Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management & Solutions at Segal Marco Advisors, where he ran the firm’s Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) platform. In this role, T.J. oversaw portfolio management of the firm’s $11B in multi-asset class discretionary client portfolios, including investment program design, strategic and tactical asset allocation, risk management, and investment manager selection. T.J. also brings deep background and experience in manager due diligence, with a particular emphasis in fixed income and private credit. While at Segal Marco, T.J. was a voting member of the firm’s Investment Committee, Alpha Manager Review Committee, Discretionary Management Committee, and ESG Committee.
T.J. earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Business in Finance from Western Illinois University. He holds the professional designations of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Chicago.
